News Producer/Anchor

Location: Rockford, Illinois, United States; onsite

Compensation: $15–$16 per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.

What you will do

• Produce the 5pm and 9pm newscasts and co-anchor the 9pm newscast.
• Create news content for television, internet, mobile, and other platforms.
• Enterprise and develop daily stories with management.
• Build compelling stories using live shots, stand-ups, creative graphics, and social media.
• Organize material, determine story angles, and write content according to editorial standards.
• Edit video, participate in social media, and support station-sponsored community events and special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or a related field; equivalent experience may substitute.
• At least one year of television anchoring or reporting experience.
• Strong vocal delivery, camera presence, clear enunciation, and excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate accurately in real time with staff, on-air teams, and viewers.
• Understanding of social media and ability to operate newsroom computer systems.
• Flexibility to work any shift and maintain a cooperative, team-oriented approach.
