Senior Cost Accountant (Manufacturing)

Location: Athens, Georgia, United States; onsite at the manufacturing facility

What you will do

• Lead standard cost development and maintenance, including bills of material, routings, and machine and labor rates.
• Support month-end close activities for inventory and manufacturing costs, including journal entries, job order reviews, and variance reconciliations.
• Analyze cost drivers, manufacturing performance, margins, volume trends, and resource utilization.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles and prepare monthly KPI, variance, and cost-efficiency reporting packages.
• Maintain inventory integrity and valuation accuracy, including inventory reserve reviews and compliance with company procedures.
• Support cost reduction, ROI analysis, continuous improvement, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and general ledger activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, job costing, and inventory valuation methods.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Infor, SAP, Oracle, or similar.
• Advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, PivotTables, charts, and dashboards.
• Ability to analyze complex data, communicate financial concepts to non-financial audiences, and collaborate across operations, supply chain, and finance.

Nice to have

• Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of cost modeling, variance analysis, and performance benchmarking.
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and capital expenditure planning.
• Ability to work autonomously when the direct manager is located elsewhere.
