Advance Technician (Fiber Optics)

Location: Parsons, Kansas, United States; onsite field work required

What you will do

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain customer connectivity, Headend systems, HFC networks, fiber optic networks, and Home Terminal Units.
• Diagnose local plant and customer-equipment issues using electronic test equipment.
• Read network design maps, verify as-built documentation, compare field conditions with records, and report findings.
• Splice and terminate coaxial and fiber optic cables, install aerial and underground equipment, activate devices, and test network performance.
• Perform serviceability surveys, create plant-extension drawings, complete underground facility locates, and support construction maintenance.
• Monitor and repair signal leakage, restore damaged plant, inspect power supplies, and train technical personnel as directed.

Requirements

• One-year college or technical-school certificate, or three to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination.
• Successful completion of the Sparklight Technical Training Center Advanced Technician course within six months of accepting the position.
• Working knowledge of signal level meters, VOMs, leakage detection equipment, TDRs, OTDRs, and related test equipment.
• Knowledge of FCC, NEC, NESC, OSHA, DOT, and applicable local regulations.
• Valid driver's license for the state of employment.
• Availability for variable schedules, on-call work, overtime, weekends, evenings, holidays, and service interruptions.
