Fiber Route Patroller (Fiber Optics)

Location: Field-based near Meridian, MS and Forrest, MS; candidates should live within a 30-minute commute

Salary: $23.41–$36.00 USD per hour

Provides mission-critical bandwidth and communications infrastructure solutions, including dark fiber, private data networks, wavelengths, Ethernet, and dedicated Internet access across North America and Europe.

What you will do

• Test, troubleshoot, maintain, and install fiber network infrastructure.
• Use 10G–100G test sets, OTDR traces, and Layer 1–Layer 4 validation methods.
• Install and support optics, patch cords, and Network Interface Devices.
• Patrol long-haul fiber routes and inspect cabinets, handholes, and buried cable routes for damage and environmental risks.
• Monitor construction sites and third-party activity near fiber routes to prevent damage.
• Document field activities, utility data, damage investigations, and site conditions while coordinating with technicians, engineers, contractors, and internal teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant field or construction experience; five years preferred.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications, underground utilities, or fiber optic systems.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company vehicle requirements.
• Ability to follow OSHA guidelines and company safety policies.

Nice to have

• Experience with OTDRs, light meters, and 10G–100G fiber testers.
• Knowledge of Layer 1–Layer 4 testing and network troubleshooting.
• OSHA or other safety certifications.
