Customs Brokerage Specialist (Logistics)

Location: Jamaica, New York, United States; hybrid schedule, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Salary: $25.37–$35.51 USD per hour

What you will do

• Provide customer service and resolve issues to support the timely release and movement of freight and cargo.
• Prepare, analyze, and submit customs, transportation, and compliance documentation to U.S. Customs, agents, and clients.
• Identify and resolve customs, billing, payment, banking, letter of credit, and invoicing issues.
• Maintain relationships with customers, correspondent brokers, carriers, and other service providers.
• Develop freight rates and quotes, research and negotiate carrier rates, and coordinate post-entry activities where applicable.
• Enter and correct data accurately, collect delinquent payments, and complete accounting adjustment documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 12 months of brokerage, transportation, and/or customer service experience; 1.5 years of field experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, applicable federal requirements, and HTS classification and the Harmonized Tariff System.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and standard office equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, mathematical, and independent-working skills.
• Ability to handle high-volume, detail-oriented, and time-sensitive work; mandatory overtime and holiday work may be required during high-volume periods.

Nice to have

• CargoWise experience.
• Knowledge of air, ocean, surface transportation, dangerous goods, export licensing, tariff classifications, and international trade banking requirements.
