TL;DR
Production Manager (Nuclear Manufacturing): Scaling factory production of advanced microreactors with an accent on safety, quality, throughput, cost, and on-time delivery. Focus on building production capacity, eliminating systemic constraints, leading root-cause investigations, and developing supervisors and technicians for serial production.

Location: Must be based in the United States and willing to work on-site in Austin, TX. The role requires work on an active manufacturing floor, PPE, and extended hours or weekends when needed.

What you will do

  • Own department performance across safety, quality, throughput, cost, and on-time delivery.
  • Lead, coach, recruit, and develop Production Supervisors, technicians, and future production leaders.
  • Translate the master production schedule into capacity, staffing, shift, and execution plans.
  • Set departmental metrics, identify production constraints, and eliminate recurring problems through data-driven improvements.
  • Manage labor and operating budgets, including build-versus-buy, repair-versus-replace, and capital investment decisions.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering on process, tooling, materials, and design-for-manufacturability issues.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the United States and work on-site in Austin, TX.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or a related field, or a high school diploma/equivalency with 8+ years of progressive manufacturing experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing or production operations.
  • At least 3 years of direct people-management experience, including management of supervisors, leads, or other managers.
  • Ability to work on an active manufacturing floor, wear required PPE, and support extended hours or weekends as needed.
  • Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Persons and comply with 10 CFR Part 810; non-compliant foreign citizenships are not permitted.

Nice to have

  • Production management experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, medical device, ASME code fabrication, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience ramping products from low-rate production to serial production and building teams in a high-growth environment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, operational excellence, value stream mapping, takt, standard work, TPM, and statistical problem solving.
  • Experience with departmental P&L or operating budgets, MES/ERP implementation, and shop-floor data capture.
  • Familiarity with nuclear quality requirements such as 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and NQA-1, or equivalent regulated QMS standards.
