TL;DR
Construction Quality Control/Assurance Specialist (Nuclear Construction): Managing and verifying construction quality from pre-construction through turnover to operations with an accent on process piping, safety-classified structures, systems and components, and rigorous nuclear quality requirements. Focus on site inspections, contractor oversight, nonconformance resolution, leak testing, corrective actions, and verification against NQA-1, ASME, DOE, and project specifications.

Location: Richland, Washington, United States; on-site construction work with extended hours and weekends as necessary.

Salary: $115,000–$160,000 annually.

What you will do

  • Manage and document construction quality across project scopes from pre-construction through turnover to operations.
  • Perform daily site walks, inspections, system verifications, and surveillance of contractor quality-affecting activities.
  • Verify installation of process piping and safety-classified structures, systems, and components against designs, specifications, codes, seismic qualifications, and safety functions.
  • Track nonconformances, condition reports, corrective actions, project impacts, and quality trends through closure.
  • Coordinate with project management, engineering, project controls, procurement, subcontractors, the Site Superintendent, and the Construction Manager.
  • Support both quality assurance and quality control while proactively identifying and preventing implementation risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Engineering Technologist Diploma preferred, or 5+ years of field construction experience supervising QA/QC inspections for large capital projects in lieu of education.
  • Experience with process piping installation and fabrication quality requirements, including ASME B31.3 leak testing.
  • Experience or training in nuclear construction compliance, including NQA-1, 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE O 414.1D, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, and applicable Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code requirements.
  • Subject matter expertise in testing, inspection, process piping construction, nonconformance reporting, root cause analysis, corrective action programs, and trending analysis.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q clearance or a site-specific security clearance required.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, organization, communication, technical writing, and documentation skills.
