Wildlife Damage Management Technician

Location: Sonora, Texas; must reside in the assigned county unless the county is classified as urban

Salary: $2,620.50 monthly

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service's Wildlife Services department provides wildlife damage management services and activities.

What you will do

• Conduct wildlife and avian damage management operations using traps, snares, chemicals, firearms, tools, baits, and lures.
• Obtain agreements from landowners, ranchers, and administrators before performing services on private land.
• Participate as a gunner or ground crew member in authorized aerial hunting activities.
• Maintain tools, equipment, supplies, control devices, and required records for toxic materials.
• Use GPS to identify trap, snare, and M-44 locations and prepare weekly management information system documents.
• Report activities to the District Supervisor and perform all duties in accordance with safety procedures and applicable laws.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Farm or ranch background.
• Knowledge of biological sciences, wildlife damage management laws, control devices, chemicals, and predator management tools.
• Good computer skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to drive, travel as needed, multitask, and work cooperatively with others.
• Valid driver's license, personal vehicle, appropriate liability insurance, and willingness to work some evenings, weekends, nights, and out-of-county events.
