TL;DR
TFS Dispatcher I - Initial Attack (Wildfire): Dispatching agency and inter-agency resources for wildfire incidents while maintaining intelligence, weather, resource, and emergency response records with an accent on incident communication, situational awareness, and statewide aviation support. Focus on coordinating dispatch operations, monitoring fire conditions, completing operational reports, and supporting emergency response during rotating shifts.

Location: College Station, Texas, United States. Onsite work in a dispatch center on a 10-hour rotating shift; availability for weekends, holidays, emergency response, and increased 12-hour shifts is required. When on call, must be able to report to the dispatch center within 30 minutes.

Salary: $20.45 per hour

What you will do

  • Dispatch and monitor agency, inter-agency, aviation, and logistical resources for wildfires and other incidents.
  • Share intelligence on resource availability, fire danger, weather, lightning, fire behavior, warnings, duty times, and response activity.
  • Maintain dispatch records, logs, fire reports, open records responses, resource tracking, and operational information systems.
  • Coordinate FAMIS transactions, mileage reports, travel vouchers, purchase orders, credit cards, vehicle logs, time reports, and assigned equipment.
  • Support statewide aviation operations, emergency response readiness, training, and implementation of dispatch systems and technology.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use PC-based programs, dispatch software, and equipment; multitasking and cooperative work are required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License or ability to acquire one within 30 days of hire.
  • Availability for rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, on-call response, and reporting to the dispatch center within 30 minutes when requested.
  • No prior experience is required; a resume and references must be submitted with the application.

Nice to have

  • Formal education in emergency response dispatch or communications.
  • Wildland firefighting or emergency response dispatch experience.
  • Familiarity with state radio and dispatch protocols.
  • NWCG RADO and Dispatch Recorder certifications.
