Senior Substation Engineer (Physical Substation Design)

Location: Texas - Houston; multiple locations may be considered. The role requires travel of at least 25% of the time.

Salary: $136,100–$170,300 per year

What you will do

• Mentor engineers, specialists, and technicians.
• Provide technical expertise in the design and application of SEL equipment and power systems solutions.
• Research, innovate, and develop new engineering solutions and processes.
• Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assigned work.
• Manage projects and support the design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of engineered solutions.
• Lead environmental, health, and safety practices, including training and accident investigations.

Requirements

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering or an applicable discipline.
• 8+ years of knowledge and experience with electric power systems or equivalent transferable industry experience.
• Expertise in power systems consulting and substations.
• Strong technical training and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel at least 25% of the time.

Nice to have

• Supervisory experience.
• Electrical utility, consulting, or system integrator experience.
• Extensive experience with power systems and customers.
• Experience with Vision or other project management tracking software.
• Professional Engineer license.
