Systems Operations Specialist (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: New York City, United States, or Toronto, Canada; hybrid with at least 3 days per week in the office.

Salary: $90,000–$153,000 base salary per year, plus annual bonus or commission and equity.

What you will do

• Monitor, maintain, and support production systems and applications across on-premises infrastructure, AWS, and Kubernetes EKS clusters.
• Design, implement, and deploy cloud-native platform capabilities using Terraform and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Build automation tools and operational workflows with Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
• Collaborate with engineering and development teams to resolve incidents, service requests, and escalations.
• Identify documentation gaps and drive continuous improvements in reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 4 years of experience in systems or technical operations, application support, or infrastructure management.
• Strong scripting and automation experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Hands-on Linux administration experience, preferably with RHEL, including troubleshooting, security, TCP/IP, DNS, routing, load balancing, and connectivity.
• Production experience with Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, public cloud infrastructure, monitoring, networking, and security services.
• Ability to work collaboratively in globally distributed teams and follow a rotating schedule that includes weekends.

Nice to have

• Cloud, infrastructure, or operations certifications.
• Experience with Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Prometheus, or similar observability tools.
• Experience with Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or similar configuration and deployment automation tools.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools, GitHub Copilot, or large language models to improve operational workflows.
