DevOps Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Hybrid customer-site role in San Antonio, Texas, requiring work on site 3–5 days per week; conditions list Lackland AFB, Texas, US. U.S. Citizenship and an active U.S. Government TS clearance are required.

Salary: $100,173–$130,000 per year.

What you will do

• Support development and deployment of AWS cloud infrastructure, especially EKS, as well as on-premise and portable edge infrastructure.
• Manage Kubernetes containers and AWS infrastructure while automating deployment, scaling, monitoring, and service reliability.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into infrastructure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems and resolve complex operational issues.
• Improve infrastructure tools and processes to support high availability and performance while evaluating new technologies.
• Provide hands-on execution, mentorship, technical leadership, and team guidance.

Requirements

• Must currently hold and maintain an active TS-level U.S. Government Security Clearance and be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be willing and able to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.
• Must have 5+ years of DevOps Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor’s degree, or 3 years of relevant experience with a related master’s degree, or a high school diploma or equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms and AWS services including EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, and Lambda.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience deploying, scaling, and managing applications, containers, and operating systems.
• Ability to develop in multiple languages such as Python, Bash, or Go; familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools.
• Proficiency in Linux system administration and troubleshooting, including comfort in a terminal-based environment.
• Strong problem-solving, oral communication, and written communication skills; understanding of Agile methodologies and standard software development tool suites.
• Demonstrated experience as a technical lead, mentor, or manager for engineering teams.
• Must be able to help open or close the workspace during regular business hours as needed.
• Must be able to work at the customer site in San Antonio, Texas, 3–5 days per week, with flexibility for schedule changes.

Nice to have

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto.
• Experience with containers, EKS, Diode, CI/CD, and Terraform.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications, which may be required as directed by the customer.
