Associate, Private Equity (Tokyo-based)

What you will do

• Lead due diligence lists, data room reviews, and coordination with advisors and company leadership throughout deal processes.
• Perform company and industry due diligence, risk assessment, quantitative analysis, and business performance evaluation.
• Build and interpret detailed financial models covering operating performance, valuation, returns, and capital structures.
• Review legal documentation and closing logistics while working with accounting, tax, consulting, and legal advisors.
• Monitor portfolio companies, evaluate platform and add-on acquisitions, and support exit alternative analysis.
• Draft and present materials on potential investments, companies, industries, and economic trends to investment committee meetings.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, capital markets, or a buy-side role.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Japanese.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work constructively and independently in small deal teams, typically consisting of 2–3 investment professionals.
• Proficiency in operating models, valuation techniques, returns modeling, and identifying transaction value drivers.
