Location: Tokyo, Japan; based in the Tokyo office with remote work available 1 day per week

What you will do
- Generate investment ideas in the Japanese equity market through fundamental screening, research, and collaboration with investment professionals.
- Own and maintain coverage of designated sectors and identify companies being considered for investment.
- Build and maintain company financial models and forecast revenues, earnings, and profitability.
- Analyze financial results, monitor company announcements, and meet with company management to develop and communicate investment views.
- Manage investment data using spreadsheets and databases and maintain notes from investment meetings.
- Support investment stewardship and engagement initiatives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of equity research experience, including 3–5 years of relevant buy-side investing experience.
- Demonstrated success evaluating multiple sectors and business models and generating investment recommendations in the Japanese market.
- Strong bottom-up fundamental research skills and a value-oriented investment approach.
- Knowledge of sustainability issues, including ESG pillars, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional investment teams.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to work independently and make decisions with incomplete information.
- Native-level Japanese and business-fluent English are required. MBA or CFA is preferred.
