TL;DR
Quality Control Technician (Aerospace): Inspecting spacecraft components and manufacturing outputs across incoming, in-process, and final quality control stages with an accent on aerospace workmanship standards, traceable documentation, and equipment calibration. Focus on interpreting engineering drawings, resolving supplier engineering queries, identifying non-conformances, and maintaining inspection accuracy in a high-reliability manufacturing environment.

Location: Glasgow, United Kingdom. Hybrid work with a minimum of three days per week in the office.

What you will do

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming parts, materials, and spacecraft components against engineering drawings, work instructions, and aerospace workmanship standards.
  • Conduct in-process, first article, key inspection point, and final outgoing inspections throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Document inspection results and maintain traceable quality records for incoming, in-process, and outgoing activities.
  • Identify and escalate non-conformances to Quality Engineers or relevant Technical Authorities.
  • Support supplier engineering query resolution by liaising with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and manufacturing teams.
  • Maintain inspection and production equipment, including calibration tools, callipers, torque drivers, microscopes, and solder stations.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in aerospace, defence, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing or inspection.
  • Experience using production and inspection tools, interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical work instructions.
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, ESD/FOD prevention, travellers, work instructions, and floor-based inspection.
  • Strong attention to detail, accurate documentation practices, and the ability to follow established procedures.
  • Clear communication and teamwork skills for working with suppliers, engineering, manufacturing, and quality functions.

Nice to have

  • IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certification.
  • Experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, or other aerospace quality systems.
  • Experience managing calibration schedules and supporting supplier EQ, NCR, or CAR processes.
  • Basic maintenance experience with production equipment.
