Associate (Clinical Negligence/Large Loss)

What you will do

• Manage a caseload of pre- and post-litigation clinical negligence and large loss claims.
• Prepare legal advice for insurers and corporate clients and assess liability, quantum, and causation.
• Prepare court documents, correspondence, witness statements, and expert instructions.
• Work with counsel, clients, insurers, policyholders, and witnesses.
• Attend court, negotiate settlements, and manage deadlines and client service requirements.
• Support client relationship development and business development activities.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of post-qualification experience in litigation.
• Experience with large loss and/or clinical negligence claims, including complex claims.
• Experience appearing in the Sheriff Court and acting as instructing agent in the Court of Session.
• Experience of litigation in the All-Scotland Personal Injury Court and Court of Session.
• Strong communication, forensic analysis, organisation, negotiation, and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure.
