Apprentice Lineman (Energy)

Location: Western Service Center, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; must reside within a 20-mile radius. The role requires after-hours emergency callouts, travel, and work away from home.

Salary: $37.36–$62.27 per hour, subject to union contract step placement.

What you will do

• Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Construct, maintain, and repair transmission systems.
• Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers, and other line-work equipment.
• Perform groundwork and routine physical labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies in all weather conditions.
• Provide quality customer service while working safely and productively with the utility line crew.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical school lineman degree.
• Commitment to successful participation and advancement in the apprenticeship program.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A and compliance with FMCSR Parts 382 and 391 driver qualification requirements.
• Ability to meet physical requirements, follow company safety rules, participate in DOT random drug and alcohol testing, and travel or work away from home.

Nice to have

• Experience with bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers, and groundwork with a utility line crew.
