Field Service Engineer (Semiconductor Equipment)

Location: Japan. On-site work at major semiconductor customer fab sites; frequent travel and possible relocation between sites may be required based on business needs.

What you will do

• Install, inspect, calibrate, repair, upgrade, and perform preventive maintenance on semiconductor process equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems, implement engineering changes, and resolve customer issues.
• Manage service alerts, communicate proactively with customers, negotiate alternative solutions, and track issues through resolution.
• Advise customers on environmental conditions, hardware and software upgrades, and operational support requirements.
• Conduct customer training and maintain service documentation, reports, account files, inventory, and time records.
• Follow customer and hirify.global safety procedures, protect company assets, and collaborate with service teams across countries and disciplines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or material science.
• At least five years of field installation and servicing experience involving vacuum systems, deposition, or etching.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and mechanical skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently from the home base and work occasional off-hours or weekends.
• Computer literacy and effective teamwork and communication skills.
• Good spoken and written English and Japanese are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with semiconductor fabrication facilities or semiconductor vendors.
