TL;DR
Senior R&D Technician - Mechanisms (Aerospace): Building and testing complex aerospace mechanisms for flight and development activities, with an accent on production-ready assembly processes, tooling, and electromechanical systems. Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite role with outdoor work and movement throughout the facility.

What you will do

  • Execute complex aerospace mechanism assembly builds supporting flight and development activities.
  • Transition mechanism build processes from development into production-ready workflows.
  • Help develop tooling, infrastructure, and production areas for assembly at scale.
  • Troubleshoot development-build issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Set up and perform testing to characterize, accept, qualify, and functionally verify flight mechanisms.
  • Perform basic rework on manual mills and lathes and maintain shop equipment calibration.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 5+ years of hands-on mechanical experience in aerospace or automotive testing, complex mechanical-system maintenance, or electromechanical fabrication and assembly.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 75 lbs, walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders, and work outdoors in hot and cold climates.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, controlled documentation, assembly procedures, and parts lists.
  • Ability to mentor technicians and engineers on manufacturing-process best practices.
  • Access to export-controlled information may require U.S. Government authorization, security clearance, or other eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • 6+ years of aerospace manufacturing experience focused on electromechanical mechanisms or complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Associate degree or A&P License.
  • Experience with MES software.
  • High proficiency with lathes and 3-axis mills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
