Senior Propulsion Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Translate project objectives into cost-effective propulsion designs suitable for scaled production.
• Lead the development of solid rocket motor primary and secondary structures and related propulsion components.
• Participate in prototype and production assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and rapid design iteration.
• Create, evaluate, and approve CAD models and drawings in accordance with internal standards and ASME Y14.5 guidelines.
• Assess and resolve hardware discrepancies, preparing supporting engineering analyses as needed.
• Collaborate with supply chain to reduce material availability risks and schedule delays.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in aerospace, manufacturing, materials, or mechanical engineering, or physics.
• 5+ years of mechanical or fluids design, analysis, or build experience; student rocketry and internship experience counts.
• Experience with test methods, engineering trade studies, aerospace materials, and spacecraft or launch vehicle propulsion systems.
• CAD proficiency with NX, PTC Creo, CATIA, or similar tools, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Experience with rocket motors, solid propulsion elements, structural interfaces, and insensitive munitions practices.
• The role is based in Torrance, California, and may require access to classified information, restricted U.S. Government sites, and export-controlled information.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in a technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience developing hardware for rapid, high-rate production.
• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher.
