Spacecraft Propulsion Systems Engineer II (Aerospace): Developing and owning spacecraft propulsion and fluidic systems from requirements through design, testing, qualification, and production with an accent on system-level analysis, modeling, and technical leadership. Focus on planning and executing hardware tests, analyzing test data, managing engineering risks, and coordinating schedules and cross-functional delivery.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite role

Base salary: $100,000–$150,000 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $111,000–$168,000 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Own the end-to-end development of spacecraft propulsion and fluidic products or systems, serving as a technical lead.
  • Perform conceptual and detailed performance calculations, systems modeling, analysis, and design.
  • Gather, define, and manage requirements while leading systems engineering activities.
  • Plan, instrument, execute, and analyze propulsion system tests, including troubleshooting flight hardware.
  • Manage schedules, priorities, task assignments, technical risks, and status communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineers and technicians and contribute to engineering processes, documentation, training, and reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in propulsion system development or another high-performance engineering field.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Experience with systems engineering, technical risk assessment, testing, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work in production areas with prolonged sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes.

Nice to have

  • Experience with propulsion modeling, static and transient analysis, and model validation using Amesim, EcosimPro, Simulink, Simscape, or similar tools.
  • Python experience for data manipulation and post-processing.
  • Mechanical design experience with NX or equivalent CAD software, plus GD&T and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with Jama, Teamcenter, Windchill, National Instruments data acquisition systems, and storable electrical or chemical propellants.
  • Master’s or PhD in engineering.
