Senior Legal Counsel, Government Contracts (Defense)

What you will do

• Lead legal strategy and execution across U.S. government contracts, including Department of Defense programs under FAR and DFARS.
• Advise engineering, program management, and business development teams on proposals, negotiations, and contract execution.
• Interpret regulatory requirements covering government contracting, procurement, and compliance.
• Partner with business development on deal structures and acquisition strategies.
• Support audits, investigations, and interactions with government stakeholders.
• Build scalable contracting processes and playbooks while providing risk-balanced guidance.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
• At least 5 years of experience in government contracts law.
• Deep expertise in FAR, DFARS, and DoD contracting environments.
• Experience at a top law firm, defense contractor, or government organization.
• Strong business judgment and the ability to work autonomously with high-tempo engineering and program teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, with potential citizenship or other eligibility requirements for classified information and restricted U.S. Government systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with classified programs and export controls, including ITAR and EAR.
• Background supporting hardware, aerospace, or defense systems.
• Familiarity with cost accounting standards and compliance frameworks.
