What you will do

• Design studies with principal investigators, laboratory members, and collaborators based on scientific literature.
• Develop novel radiopharmaceuticals by synthesizing precursor materials and radiolabeling them with beta- or alpha-emitting isotopes.
• Characterize radiolabeled agents for purity, stability, hydrophobicity, and binding affinity to molecular targets on diseased cells.
• Test novel agents in in vitro assays and rodent models of disease.
• Analyze chemical, biological, biodistribution, and small-animal imaging data.
• Write experimental protocols, manuscripts, grant proposal sections, and progress reports while mentoring laboratory members.

Requirements

• PhD in a biological, chemical, or engineering program.
• Recent PhD graduate or up to three years post-PhD.
• At least three years of laboratory experience in chemistry or biochemistry research.
• Experience working safely with radioactive materials, particularly isotopes used in medical imaging and cancer treatment.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments such as HPLC and NMR.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Nice to have

• PhD in organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, radiochemistry, nuclear engineering, biomedical engineering, or biochemistry.
• Radiolabeling chemistry and radiopharmaceutical science experience.
• Experience with cultured cancer cells, mouse handling, radio-HPLC, dose calibrators, or gamma counters.
• Flow cytometry experience.
