Senior Software Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan; expected to report to the specific location at least 3 times per week

What you will do

• Lead technical solutions across requirements, system decomposition, architecture, implementation, testing, and issue resolution.
• Develop safety-critical embedded C++ software for telematics control units and connected-vehicle capabilities.
• Investigate anomalies, perform root-cause analysis, define corrective actions, and verify solutions.
• Debug software and system behavior in vehicles, laboratories, and integration environments.
• Collaborate with suppliers on technical clarification, validation, ticket resolution, and closure of field or integration issues.
• Contribute to architecture reviews, engineering best practices, and technical direction as a subject matter expert.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field with 4–6 years of relevant experience, or equivalent demonstrated knowledge and experience.
• Strong experience developing C++ software in embedded or systems-level environments.
• Experience developing, debugging, and validating software on automotive embedded systems.
• Knowledge of CAN, vehicle communications, cloud-connected systems, and telephony or cellular protocols.
• Experience translating requirements into software architecture, interfaces, and implementation plans.
• Ability to investigate complex defects, drive corrective actions to closure, and communicate clearly with engineering teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with telematics software, connectivity services, or safety-critical automotive systems.
• Familiarity with embedded Linux environments and automotive diagnostics.
