Director of Manufacturing (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Define and execute the strategy for scaling solid rocket motor manufacturing, system integration, testing, and validation from prototype to high-volume production.
• Recruit, develop, and lead a 250+ person manufacturing organization including technicians, leaders, and manufacturing engineers.
• Oversee production scheduling, capacity planning, resource allocation, inventory, supply-chain coordination, materials flow, facilities, and equipment.
• Support production software and digital manufacturing systems including MES, ERP, PLM, and MRP tools.
• Manage operational and capital expenditures and establish performance KPIs.
• Lead process improvement initiatives focused on yield, throughput, cost, reliability, safety, and quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in production, manufacturing operations, or manufacturing engineering, including 5+ years in production or operations leadership.
• Experience scaling manufacturing from development or prototype through high-volume production.
• Expertise in high-precision aerospace hardware production, including metallic and composite fabrication, machining, welding, additive manufacturing, tight-tolerance assembly, avionics, testing, acceptance, and NDE.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams across production, manufacturing engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations.
• Access to export-controlled information and potentially classified U.S. Government sites may require U.S. Government authorization, security clearance, citizenship, or other eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with MES, ERP, PLM, MRP, production data systems, and digital manufacturing workflows.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, DFM/DFA, process optimization, production flow, layout planning, tooling, and automation.
• Knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, military and defense manufacturing standards, quality management, audit readiness, and ITAR requirements.
• Leadership experience in aerospace, defense, or complex manufacturing at senior manager or director level.
• Experience manufacturing energetic materials or systems such as propellants, explosives, or pyrotechnics.
