AFP Operator I - 2nd Shift (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite at the rocket production facility in Briggs, Texas, north of Cedar Park; second shift

What you will do

• Configure, calibrate, and prepare the Automated Fiber Placement Machine and tooling for production runs.
• Prepare, load, and manage composite materials while maintaining correct tension and alignment.
• Operate the AFP machine, monitor performance, and adjust settings to maintain production quality and efficiency.
• Inspect composite parts for conformity with specifications and quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and coordinate with maintenance technicians.
• Maintain production records and improve processes to reduce waste and increase machine efficiency.

Requirements

• Experience operating Automated Fiber Placement Machines or similar CNC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
• Understanding of composite materials and their behavior during the AFP process.
• Strong attention to detail and experience maintaining production quality standards.
• Ability to troubleshoot machine issues, perform routine maintenance, and make minor adjustments.
• Effective time management and ability to meet production schedules.
• Collaborative communication with engineers, maintenance technicians, and colleagues.

Nice to have

• Experience with composites manufacturing, including layup, curing, or composite assembly.
• Familiarity with robotic systems and automation.
• Experience implementing manufacturing process improvements and analyzing production data.
• Certifications in composites manufacturing, CNC operation, or machine programming.
• Experience with Siemens 840D controllers.
