Senior Manager, Data Science and Analytics (AI)

Location: Remote, based in Lagunilla de Heredia, Costa Rica; occasional in-person attendance at work-related events may be required

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop the Product Development Data Science team.
• Define organizational priorities, operating models, success measures, succession plans, and leadership-development strategies.
• Develop and execute a multi-year Data Science and AI roadmap aligned with Product Development and business objectives.
• Identify and prioritize applications of machine learning, predictive modeling, optimization, generative AI, and advanced analytics.
• Oversee initiatives from experimentation through production deployment, adoption, monitoring, and value realization.
• Partner with Product, Technology, business leaders, and executives on analytical capabilities, investment decisions, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics, Decision Science, or a related discipline, including at least five years leading technical teams.
• Experience building and scaling high-performing technical organizations and delivering production-grade machine learning and analytics solutions.
• Advanced proficiency with Python, SQL, BigQuery, and modern machine learning development ecosystems.
• Strong knowledge of MLOps, model governance, responsible AI, risk management, experimentation, and measurement frameworks.
• Ability to influence senior executives and align cross-functional organizations around long-term capability roadmaps and investment plans.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative or technical discipline.
• Experience leading enterprise-scale machine learning, advanced analytics, or AI transformation initiatives.
• Experience with Fraud Prevention, Risk Management, Operational Analytics, or similar decision environments.
• Experience leading globally distributed or multicultural technical teams.
• Executive committee presentations, industry publications, conferences, patents, or open-source contributions.
