Senior Data Scientist

Location: Fully remote in California; hybrid/remote arrangement as applicable

What you will do

• Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends, opportunities, and answers to critical business questions.
• Develop, test, and support predictive models for pricing, claims, fraud detection, customer segmentation, and business forecasting.
• Apply statistical and machine learning methods, including A/B testing and program effectiveness analysis.
• Build and maintain dashboards and KPI reporting solutions with Power BI and Tableau.
• Partner with underwriting, product, marketing, operations, leadership, data engineering, and governance teams.
• Improve data quality, documentation, curated data assets, and repeatable analytical datasets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• 4+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, or a related role.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Strong expertise in predictive modeling, machine learning, statistical analysis, and data mining.
• Experience working with large, complex datasets and building scalable analytical solutions.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in insurance or financial services.
• Experience with quotes, policies, claims, rating, or customer data.
• Auto insurance experience.
• Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, Databricks, or similar cloud-based data platforms.
