Senior Space Flight Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $169,067–$216,031 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

• Develop reliable flight software for spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules across complete missions.
• Write structured bare-metal, RTOS, or Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
• Own software design, development, testing, integration, verification, and validation.
• Capture requirements and perform initial design trades for open-ended projects.
• Collaborate with the team to communicate, troubleshoot, and solve software and systems problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
• At least 5 years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
• Strong C++ development experience and understanding of core language concepts.
• U.S. work authorization and U.S.-person eligibility are required because the role involves export-controlled technology.
• Experience with real-time embedded systems and safety-critical software is required or strongly relevant.

Nice to have

• End-to-end experience building and launching a spacecraft.
• Experience with CCSDS telemetry and telecommand systems, F’, or the cFS framework.
• Experience with Python or Rust.
• Knowledge of analog and digital electronics, including SPI, I2C, CAN, or EtherCAT.
