Technician 1, Manufacturing Equipment Maintenance (Automation)

Location: Onsite in Batu Kawan, Penang, Malaysia; 12-hour rotating shifts required.

What you will do

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic automation issues.
• Repair or replace faulty components and perform calibrations and adjustments.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns, implement corrective actions, and maintain repair records.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with production teams and support equipment upgrades with subject matter experts and engineers.
• Follow manufacturing safety procedures and participate in training on maintenance techniques and technologies.

Requirements

• Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or SKM Phase 3, or an equivalent qualification.
• Basic understanding of mechanical or electrical systems and troubleshooting of automation equipment.
• Basic knowledge of PLCs and robotics.
• Ability to perform basic checks, monitoring, routine operations, and preventive maintenance under supervision.
• Willingness to learn, follow technical instructions, support shift teams, and escalate equipment issues when needed.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts.

Nice to have

• Experience with automation equipment such as automated robotic storage, automated robotic vehicles, ARV, ARS, or turntables.
• Familiarity with computing and computer systems.
