Engineering Specialist II (Robotics)

Location: Johor, Malaysia; onsite production role with three rotating shifts

What you will do

• Provide first-response technical support on the manufacturing line, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic software issues, and escalate problems when required.
• Assemble, integrate, bring up, calibrate, and functionally test complex electro-mechanical systems such as vacuum and robotics equipment.
• Maintain production fixtures and testers, coordinate calibration, manage preventive maintenance, and support equipment qualification and tool installation.
• Support prototype, pilot, NPI, and transfer builds, including tooling validation, ECO/MCO implementation, and manufacturing readiness.
• Monitor SPC, Cp/Cpk, FPY, rework, and defect trends; lead containment and support failure analysis, MRB/NCM, and corrective actions.
• Maintain PLM/MRP documentation, work definitions, BOMs, routings, quality records, and technician training and certification.

Requirements

• Diploma or associate degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline; a bachelor’s degree is an advantage.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in semiconductor capital equipment or high-precision automation manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, pneumatics, structured troubleshooting, drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Familiarity with vacuum, robotics, thermal systems, sensors, calibration, functional testing, SPC, DOE, PFMEA, control plans, and root-cause analysis.
• Working knowledge of Oracle MRP, PLM, MES, document control, CMMS, measurement instruments, and Microsoft 365.
• Proficiency in English communication and availability for three rotating shifts are required. The role involves production-area work, cleanroom, ESD, PPE, safety, and EHS requirements, standing and walking, occasional lifting up to 20 kg with aids, and possible travel or extended hours.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience with Minitab, dashboards, digitalization, automation, benchmarking, and advanced Lean improvement methods.
