Music & Sound Annotation Expert (AI)

Contribute to a customer project focused on music and audio technology through a contractor engagement.

What you will do

• Listen to 30–90 second field recordings and annotate instruments, tempo, key, background events, timestamps, and scene details.
• Compare recordings of the same song captured in different locations and identify what remained consistent or changed.
• Review AI model descriptions of audio clips and mark accurate, incorrect, or invented details with brief explanations.
• Attend a paid onboarding and calibration session followed by a short weekly sync.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on music or audio experience.
• Strong analytical listening skills, including identifying individual instruments in noisy real-world recordings.
• Ability to identify tempo within a few BPM and musical key using relative pitch with a reference.
• Comfort with detailed, repetitive annotation work involving dropdowns, timestamps, and structured notes.
• Clear written English is required for brief, evidence-based notes.
• Quality headphones, a quiet workspace, reliable internet, and availability for 20–25 hours per week during the engagement window.

Nice to have

• Experience as a working or gigging musician, session player, producer, or mixing engineer.
• Background in music education, ear training, band or choir direction, or conservatory studies.
• Experience in location sound recording, sound design, foley, podcast editing, or documentary audio.
