Mechanical Engineering Design Manager

Location: Taipei-based or China position; candidates must have the right to work in either Taiwan or China

What you will do

• Lead the conception and execution of mechanical and material designs for smartphones, audio products, and accessories.
• Supervise and mentor ODM mechanical design engineers and technicians, assessing manufacturability and defining feasible processes, tooling, and equipment.
• Review complex mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystems to ensure functional, performance, safety, and manufacturing requirements are met.
• Support pilot production runs, resolve production-line issues, and collaborate with ODM partners on product execution.
• Perform FEA, thermal analysis, and other engineering analyses to improve build predictability, product quality, design processes, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with product, hardware, audio, manufacturing, operations, marketing, aftersales, and customer service teams to define requirements and provide technical support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience with smartphones, over-ear headphones, TWS products, or similarly complex consumer electronics.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, CAD design software, manufacturing processes, plastics, tooling, injection molding, assembly, painting, printing, and PVD.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving technical issues during product design and manufacturing.
• Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences and collaborate across functional teams.
• Good English and native Mandarin in written and spoken communication; right to work in Taiwan or China required.

Nice to have

• Experience with project planning, execution, and monitoring.
• Experience collaborating with ODMs and working with manufacturing processes.
• Experience in tooling and applied materials development.
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources for mechanical engineering parts.
