(Senior) Consultant Energy System Planning

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid work from home, the client site, or the Amsterdam office

What you will do

• Work with energy and utility clients on the transition to new energy generation, transportation, distribution, and consumption models.
• Develop long-term grid planning capabilities, planning tools, and system integration approaches across power and gas sectors.
• Contribute to energy policy and grid planning decisions addressing costs, socio-economic welfare, and CO2 impacts.
• Combine stakeholder management, business analysis, project management, energy system optimization, data analysis, and reporting.
• Support team strategy, business development, recruitment, knowledge sharing, and training.

Requirements

• Degree in energy systems, sustainable energy technologies, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience or a PhD.
• Understanding of long-term scenarios, large-scale energy projects, energy policy, and DSO/TSO operations.
• Strong analytical, numerical, conceptual, communication, flexibility, and entrepreneurial skills.
• Interest in data and AI-related topics and the ability to develop expertise in these areas.
• Professional Dutch and English required; non-Dutch speakers are not accepted.

Nice to have

• Fluent German.
• Previous consulting experience, preferably with a grid operator.
• Experience with integrated energy system planning.
