Principal Data Analyst (Retail Inventory)

Location: Seoul, South Korea; remote member of the core strategy team in Seoul.

What you will do

• Design, build, and deploy price elasticity models to improve sell-through and recovery value for distressed inventory.
• Develop optimization logic for Days of Cover targets, balancing stockout risk, working capital, and operational capacity.
• Model multi-tier vendor rebate contracts and optimize purchase quantities while controlling overstock risk.
• Create automated discount algorithms for near-expiry and slow-moving products to increase sales velocity and reduce financial loss.
• Collaborate with Marketing, CX, Inbound, Inventory Health, Clearance, Finance, Operations, Retail, and senior leadership to define problems and present actionable recommendations.
• Translate quantitative models and insights into concise business-facing narratives.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of experience in Category Analytics, Decision Science, Business Analytics, or Data Science, preferably in e-commerce, retail, or a technology startup.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, or Mathematics.
• Expert proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, modeling, and analysis.
• Experience applying statistical, machine learning, or optimization models to pricing, forecasting, inventory optimization, or commercial analytics.
• Strong business acumen, commercial mindset, communication skills, and ability to manage projects from conception to completion in a fast-paced remote-first environment.

Nice to have

• Engineering degree, Master’s degree, or PhD in a quantitative field.
• Experience with Airflow, Redshift, Hive, Spark, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Understanding of supply chain, inventory management, or retail finance.
