R&D Software Intern

Location: In-person at the central Christchurch office, New Zealand

What you will do

• Research graph-analysis strategies for speeding up community isolation analysis.
• Implement and test optimisation approaches within the risk evaluation codebase.
• Measure improvements using real runtime and computational-efficiency data.
• Profile CPU, memory, and storage usage.
• Work alongside engineering and data teams on an R&D result that ships.

Requirements

• Comfort writing and reading code, with willingness to learn.
• Curiosity and a systematic approach to problems with uncertain solutions.
• Interest in applying technology to climate and natural-hazard risk management.
• Must have studied or be studying at a New Zealand tertiary education institute; overseas study alone does not qualify.
• Must be studying at NZQA level 6–10 or have completed qualifying study within the last 12 months.
• Must be legally permitted to work in New Zealand.
