Electrical Test Systems Engineer Placement (12 months) (Aerospace)

Location: Portsmouth, United Kingdom; primarily standard day hours with occasional shift work during operational test phases.

What you will do

• Build, configure, deploy, and validate electrical and thermal test infrastructure, including control racks, monitoring racks, consoles, power supply units, integration software, and bespoke software.
• Design and validate custom harnesses and support equipment for product and test validation.
• Execute electrical and thermal tests, evaluate payload performance against requirements, and analyze non-conformances.
• Provide hands-on support during clean room operations and spacecraft production activities.
• Drive research, development, innovation, and process improvement initiatives.
• Ensure right-first-time inputs for clean room deployment while tracking and mitigating quality issues.

Requirements

• Must be an undergraduate for the full 12-month placement period and provide the expected graduation date.
• Currently studying Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Interest in telecommunications, aerospace, military engineering, or high-reliability engineering.
• Interest in automatic test systems and result processing, including XML schemas.
• Basic understanding and previous use of electrical test equipment and electrical measurements.
• Communication, problem-solving, autonomous working, and proactive working skills.

Nice to have

• Ability to follow instructions, develop procedures further, and build reports.
• Basic knowledge of software programming languages.
• Additional space or aerospace experience.
