TL;DR
Landing Gear Technical Engineering Intern (Aerospace): Developing and validating landing gear systems for current and future Airbus aircraft with an accent on systems design, mechanical structures, modelling, simulation, and testing. Focus on defining system and equipment requirements, investigating component stresses, solving engineering problems, and presenting findings to stakeholders across production, in-service, and assembly teams.

Location: Filton, Bristol, United Kingdom; hybrid working options may be available depending on the role.

Salary: £24,246 per year

hirify.global develops commercial aircraft and future environmentally sustainable aerospace technologies, with Landing Gear Engineering covering system definition, integration, industrialisation, and in-service support.

What you will do

  • Support landing gear systems definition, integration, product development, and in-service activities across hirify.global aircraft programmes.
  • Define system- and equipment-level requirements and support validation and verification using models, simulations, and test rigs.
  • Investigate stress experienced by damaged components and provide feedback to production and final assembly teams.
  • Work with engineering experts, suppliers, customers, manufacturing, production, and in-service teams.
  • Own projects where possible, solve technical problems, report findings, and present progress and results to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate student status must be maintained for the full duration of the placement.
  • Relevant studies in aerospace or mechanical engineering, systems and mechatronics, mathematics, physics, computer science, or data science and analytics.
  • Inquisitive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, proactivity, resilience, and willingness to take ownership of projects.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • BPSS security screening is required; UK SC-level security clearance or export-control approval may also be required depending on the role.
  • CV and cover letter outlining motivation and suitability are required.

Nice to have

  • Computer-aided design experience, such as CATIA.
  • Experience with ADAMS, Matlab Simulink, or Fluent modelling tools.
  • Programming experience with Python, R, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript.
