Systems Engineer (SDR)

Location: Portsmouth, United Kingdom, with hybrid working. Occasional UK travel is required. Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance is required.

What you will do

• Collaborate with domain experts and customers to define user requirements for SDR-based platforms.
• Manage and maintain system architectures and system models.
• Integrate and validate RF front-ends, FPGAs, and real-time software stacks.
• Conduct performance analysis and trade studies covering modulation, coding, and protocol layers.
• Support waveform development and integration across multiple SDR platforms.
• Lead system-level troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and optimization.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with software-defined radio platforms, ideally from requirements gathering through final delivery.
• Strong understanding of RF or SATCOM systems, signal processing, and digital communications theory.
• Proficiency in scripting and programming with Python, C++, or embedded C.
• Experience with system-level requirements, integration, and validation.
• Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance.
