What you will do

• Design 3D-printed and CNC-manufactured parts for prototype systems.
• Write and test software supporting communication technology research.
• Integrate hardware into optical and satellite communication systems.
• Assist with laboratory trials and outdoor field tests.
• Support researchers with daily technical activities and learn about optics, optical communications, and RF systems.

Requirements

• Remain enrolled as an undergraduate for the full 12.5-month placement.
• Study an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or RF.
• Have mechanical design skills and experience with Autodesk, Fusion 360, or FreeCAD.
• Demonstrate teamwork, strong written and oral communication, and the ability to work independently.
• Pass a BPSS check; UK SC-level security clearance or export-control approval may also be required depending on the role.
• Submit a CV and cover letter stating motivation and suitability, including the expected graduation date.
