Staff Software Engineer (Ruby/Rails)

What you will do

• Own the technologies and processes powering the B2B marketplace across Ruby on Rails and Hanami services.
• Build features across business-critical monoliths, microservices, distribution integrations, and partner-facing APIs.
• Lead large-scale technical initiatives involving scalable, secure, and highly available backend systems.
• Guide engineers through complex technical problems and collaborate with architects on system-level solutions.
• Define engineering best practices, maintain rigorous code review and testing standards, and improve observability.
• Identify and reduce technical debt in legacy Rails code while delivering critical production changes.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails; Hanami experience is beneficial.
• Extensive experience building and maintaining high-throughput backend services and APIs at scale.
• Deep understanding of software engineering best practices, testing, code review, and maintainable architecture.
• Familiarity with Redis, Kafka, Postgres, Datadog, Grafana, Kubernetes, Helm, Kong, Terraform, Docker, and GitHub.
• Experience with AWS services including RDS, ElastiCache, CloudSearch, EKS, and MSK.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of live ticket sales or experience in a fast-paced industry.
• Mentorship and leadership experience with distributed onshore and offshore teams.
• Interest in developing engineers and shaping team culture without moving into formal management.
