Senior Backend Engineer (Ruby), AI Catalog: External Agents

What you will do

• Develop, ship, and maintain secure, tested, and performant external agent integrations in the hirify.global monolith backend.
• Build integrations connecting hirify.global agents with tools such as Slack and external solutions such as Claude Code and Codex.
• Design, implement, and review GraphQL and REST APIs with clear contracts for frontend clients.
• Collaborate with Product Management, UX, frontend, backend, and AI specialists to refine requirements and deliver improvements.
• Extend automated testing with RSpec and other frameworks to improve reliability and developer feedback.
• Participate in Tier 2 on-call rotations, troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve observability and resiliency.

Requirements

• Production experience with Ruby on Rails, including background jobs, APIs, and data models.
• Experience working across the stack in a mature codebase.
• Proficiency designing or extending scalable, maintainable, and backward-compatible REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Practical experience designing and shipping AI-powered backend features or integrations.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including efficient queries and data modeling.
• Experience identifying and addressing application and infrastructure performance bottlenecks.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Python backends or Vue frontends.
