Sr. Backend Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

What you will do

• Architect and scale backend systems supporting user workflows, notifications, automation features, and mobile products.
• Design performant APIs, microservices, distributed systems, queues, asynchronous data flows, and third-party integrations.
• Work with high-volume data systems and improve service uptime, resilience, monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement database, infrastructure, and application performance optimizations.
• Collaborate with product, design, data, and frontend engineering in two-week sprints to ship features.
• Participate in system design and architecture reviews while maintaining testing, CI/CD, and code quality practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a senior-level role.
• Expert proficiency in Ruby on Rails and strong production experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Strong expertise with Sidekiq and proficiency with Redis for caching, job queues, and distributed locking.
• Experience with DynamoDB or comparable NoSQL databases, RESTful API design, versioning, serialization, and third-party API integrations.
• Experience designing and scaling distributed systems in production, with familiarity with AWS services including S3, DynamoDB, SQS, CloudWatch, and SES.
• Strong skills in testing, CI/CD, monitoring, debugging, performance optimization, and working in a fast-moving remote environment.

• Backend development for mobile applications.
