Board Software Engineer III (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Remote within the U.S.; Atlanta, GA preferred

Salary: $145,000–$165,000 per year

What you will do

• Own feature development in Rails-based backend services from technical design through delivery.
• Contribute to architectural decisions involving data modeling, service boundaries, API design, and background processing.
• Write performant, idiomatic, well-tested Ruby code and improve code quality, reliability, performance, and developer experience.
• Guide Software Engineers I and II through code reviews, pairing, and design feedback.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA to align technical implementation with product goals.
• Participate in on-call rotation, incident response, root cause analysis, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience with substantial Ruby on Rails experience.
• Advanced Ruby on Rails skills and strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and applying unit, integration, and end-to-end testing practices with RSpec or Minitest.
• Familiarity with Sidekiq or similar background job systems, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and deployment workflows.
• Experience with complex features and large-scale, high-throughput distributed systems serving millions of users in real time.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, agentic coding tools, or AI-augmented workflows.
• Experience with Go, remote engineering organizations, incident response, or high-pressure situations.
