Principal Software Engineer/Architect

Location: Lowell, Massachusetts, United States. Hybrid work with three days per week in the office required.

Salary: $163,900–$235,550 per year, plus potential performance-based bonus and restricted stock unit awards.

What you will do

• Lead the architectural design and implementation of key modules within the hirify.global Ready product suite.
• Define architectural visions, technical roadmaps, standards, constraints, and guidelines for engineering teams.
• Collaborate with developers, operations, product managers, technical leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet product and business needs.
• Review code and designs to maintain resilience, performance, security, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Define and enforce CI/CD standards, development methodologies, quality practices, and observability processes.
• Research emerging technologies and drive multi-year architecture strategies, innovation, risk mitigation, and AI-enabled productivity improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of software development experience across the full software development lifecycle, including experience as a lead architect or in a similar role.
• Strong experience with Java, SaaS and multitenant systems, object-oriented design, service-oriented architecture, and design patterns.
• Experience designing cloud solutions with GCP, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, managed services, cost optimization, and observability.
• Experience with Datadog or Grafana, CI/CD, reliable and scalable systems, relational and non-relational databases, messaging, event streaming, analytics, and integration platforms.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, mentoring, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with automated testing and reducing manual test processes.
• Experience with LLMs or building agents.
• Experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, Tableau, Looker, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Apache Beam, Spark, or Boomi.
