Senior Backend Developer (Java & Spring Boot)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend applications with Java and Spring Boot.
• Architect and implement microservices-based solutions and contribute to system design and technical roadmaps.
• Design and optimize relational database schemas, complex queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
• Write clean, testable, and well-documented code using design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean code practices.
• Diagnose production incidents and improve system availability, reliability, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automated testing.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers and collaborate with product management, QA, DevOps, and frontend teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Requirements

• On-site work in San Francisco is required.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience with deep Java specialization.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security.
• Experience with production-grade microservices, relational databases, RESTful APIs, Hibernate/JPA, Maven or Gradle, Git, JUnit, and Mockito.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka or RabbitMQ, cloud platforms, and enterprise CI/CD workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience in consumer, retail, or eCommerce product environments.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis.
• Familiarity with New Relic, Datadog, Splunk, or similar monitoring and performance-tuning tools.
• Previous technical leadership, tech lead, or formal mentorship experience.
