Location: Williamsburg, Virginia; in person, with travel between regional sites as needed

Compensation: $16.88–$34.65 per hour

Virginia Oncology Associates is a large medical practice in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina focused exclusively on cancer care and blood disorders.

What you will do

  • Assist physicians and clinicians with patient examinations and procedures in a clinical environment.
  • Support efficient patient flow and escort patients between exam rooms, offices, and treatment rooms.
  • Record vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication changes, and other patient information.
  • Obtain medical records required before treatments and procedures.
  • Schedule tests, procedures, hospital admissions, follow-up appointments, and test-result visits.
  • Arrange pre-authorizations and pre-certifications and complete other administrative duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience, preferably in a multi-physician practice.
  • Current knowledge of the medical assisting profession and industry.
  • Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred; CMA strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel between sites in the region as needed.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
