Physician Assistant - iTox Consult (Oncology): Managing inpatient immunotherapy toxicity consultations and coordinating follow-up care across oncology teams and hospital sites with an accent on clinical assessment, complex treatment decision-making, and continuity of care. Focus on evaluating oncology patients, coordinating testing and referrals, and communicating recommendations to patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams.

Location: Boston, Massachusetts; 100% onsite. The role provides care across Mt. Auburn Hospital and the Longwood Medical Area, with travel between sites during work hours.

Salary: $126,100–$204,732.50 per year

What you will do

  • Respond to inpatient iTox consultation requests and complete consultations in collaboration with oncology attending physicians.
  • Collect, document, and present patient medical data and perform physical examinations.
  • Provide recommendations on diagnostic work-ups and complex cancer treatment decisions.
  • Follow patients throughout their admission, coordinating care and communicating with patients, families, and inpatient teams.
  • Follow up on pathology and other pending tests after discharge and arrange additional testing, referrals, and ambulatory care.
  • Support solid tumor and other oncology consult services, ambulatory and inpatient iTox management, and program development.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and completion of an AAPA/NCCPA-accredited Physician Assistant Studies program.
  • NCCPA certification and a current Physician Assistant license to practice in Massachusetts.
  • Current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Licenses.
  • Expertise in general medicine and hematology/oncology, including medical complications affecting oncology patients.
  • Strong communication, clinical judgment, collaboration, and documentation skills.
  • Completion of 100 hours of CME every two years in accordance with national and state regulations.
