Executive Director, AI Transformation & Strategy (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based out of the Bridgewater, New Jersey office, with remote work most of the time and approximately 20% domestic and international travel.

What you will do

• Develop and steward the enterprise AI transformation strategy in alignment with corporate goals, the patient-centric mission, and life sciences competitiveness.
• Partner with business leaders to identify, prioritize, and activate high-value AI use cases and translate business problems into executable opportunities.
• Embed AI into operating models, workflows, and decision-making while driving AI literacy, certification pathways, and organizational change.
• Establish responsible AI governance covering model oversight, bias mitigation, transparency, data protection, and regulatory alignment.
• Represent the organization at AI in biopharma forums and translate developments in generative AI, agentic AI, and AI-powered drug development into recommendations.
• Own AI business cases, pilots, success metrics, portfolio prioritization, KPI tracking, ROI reporting, and updates for executive leadership and the Board.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree.
• At least 15 years of progressive business leadership experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech, medtech, CRO, or CDMO environments.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional strategic initiatives, including several AI-related initiatives, from concept through execution.
• Ability to evaluate emerging technologies from a business perspective, distinguish substance from hype, and hold vendors and internal teams accountable for outcomes.
• Exceptional communication and influence skills, including executive presentations and facilitation with frontline managers.
• Strategic understanding of AI/ML, automation, predictive analytics, and relevant life sciences regulatory frameworks such as FDA and EMA guidance.

Nice to have

• Deep knowledge of at least two major life sciences functional areas, such as R&D, Commercial, Regulatory, or Operations.
• Familiarity with FDA guidance on AI/ML in drug development or medical devices.
