Freelance Subtitling Linguist (Chinese-to-English)

What you will do

• Create subtitle files through conforming, translation, or proofreading and quality control assignments.
• Use Pixelogic and client cloud-based subtitling software.
• Apply in-house glossary tools and client-specific style guides.
• Handle file rejections and make required corrections.
• Adapt to changing client requirements, priorities, and workloads.
• Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive audiovisual content.

Requirements

• Native or near-native English proficiency.
• Advanced or native Chinese proficiency.
• At least 2 years of professional Chinese-to-English subtitling translation and/or proofreading or quality control experience.
• Professional experience with film, television, streaming, or other audiovisual content.
• Excellent English writing skills, including accuracy, grammar, punctuation, tone, and natural phrasing.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines, accommodate short turnaround times, and work with cloud-based subtitling platforms.
